I was thinking last night (again) about humanity (as usual). You see, before I went to bed, I was watching various Oomph! videos, and of course, with them being in German, I didn't understand much more than the odd word here and there, and then, Dero would start speaking (or singing) in English, and, of course, I would understand that. I didn't think much of it then, but then as I lay trying to sleep, I thought about it, and suddenly I thought, "Why is it that humans have so many different languages?" I mean, I know why, like with all of the different regions and different developments/classes/what-have-you, but why don't we do something about it? By keeping so many different languages, we are creating a barrier from our own kind. I mean, wouldn't it be so much easier if there was a universal language that all humans were taught? We would never have to worry about understanding the local languages when traveling, people wouldn't be able to complain that the immigrants didn't speak the local language, there would never be any mis-translations that could possibly start wars; so many problems could be avoided! Of course, then people would be complaining about loosing their heritage, I suppose. But they wouldn't have to lose their native tongues! We could all be bilingual, right? Teach both the universal language and the native language at schools and in homes, and there would be no loss, right? So..why haven't we tried to do that yet?
